Boston Common: The City Awakens

The Boston Common lies directly in front of the Massachusetts Statehouse and offers some delightful strolls and views.

Early morning commuters were busy on the way to starting their day. The hustle and bustle of the day was starting up during our early morning photo capture.

The Brewer Fountain sits on the lower end of the Common by the Park Street Church but well within view of the Statehouse.

I am unconvinced that one could exhaust the diverse views and perspectives and lighting arrangements to capture different senses of the fountain throughout the day and over the seasons. For the Commons in general as well.

There are many stately trees of all variety on the Common. Magnificent in their grandeur.

And the foliage was turning bright at many different angles.

The quiet, graceful movements of these ladies conducting their Tai Chi in concert at the Frog Pond was very peaceful and inspiring in the early light. Thank you ladies.

And the frogs were watching respectfully over the still Pond.

There is much to gaze at and ponder at the Frog Pond.

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument has many bronzed details.

The tenor of the upper side of the Common is stately and patriotic under the purview of the statehouse. As one wanders further down across the Common, it is more playful and recreational. The stately eagle on the carousel is a fitting part of the demarcation line between formal and informal.

Around the Statehouse and the Boston Common, there is a sense of Duty as folks get ready for their occupational endeavors and there is a sense of playfulness as the tourists begin to move along the Freedom Trail. There is much more to see on the Common but we left it be to amble North.
