Baby Dolls: Summer Nap Time

As my third daughter, Itsy Bit, was growing up, she loved babies and baby dolls. We made sure she had at least one doll early on. Middle daughter, Little Bit, carefully selected a doll that giggled when you pressed her tummy. That doll was named Sunny Baby 'cause she was always of sunny disposition no matter what. She is well worn and I think is the favorite. Notice that Sunny Baby gets one of the two identical pink blankies with satin edges that have been the soothing personal favorite of Itsy Bit's sleep cycle throughout all time.

When Itsy Bit is in a relaxed, playful mood around the house, the babies get strewn in many corners to take their naps. This one has a sleeping bag and a pillow.

This one is safely huddled in the baby carrier.

This baby has one of the many cradles and beds provided for the dollies. They are arranged quite precisely in open spaces, each with an attendant blankie or pillow or soft space for them.

It is quite peaceful to walk around the house with the babies taking their naps. They each have their one-sie or nightie on, suitably comfortable for napping.

This has been the state of things over the last week of summer before school starts.

It makes me realize, at seven, almost eight years of age, that there won't be too many more instances of this baby arranging as Itsy Bit grows older. Perhaps second grade is when the dolls slowly pass into an autumnal equinox of less use. I think there is more sports, gymnastics, and sleepover activities in the future.

Even one of the stuffed animals gets a special place for nap. This bear soup in the high chair!

This is my weekend world. Amidst the continued canning of tomatoes and peaches.
